Williston Urbex
Williston, Florida
Williston has a couple of dive sites nearby, so after our dives, we went to see what historic Williston had to offer.
It turns out, not much. Many of the buildings are boarded up or caving in. This was to our delight though, as this was exactly the type of buildings we wanted to photograph.
The Adamsville Cemetery and old barn photos I believe was coming in from Chiefland. The cemetery dates back to at least the mid to late 1800's.
Williston was founded in 1853 by Dr. Jesse M. Willis, who built a plantation here. Williston was a producer of cucumbers and at the time was the largest in the world. The first church opened in 1856, the first school in 1857, and a public school in 1870.
The classic BMW Bavaria model years ran from 1968-1977 and was known as the E3 series.
The Citizens Bank was open from 1914-1927 and is on the US National Register of Historic Places.
Uncle Mike's Antique Mall, the building next to the bank, has supposedly been closed many years prior to 2013. Closure date unknown. It sits abandoned.
