Suwannee Barn 01
I don't have much information on this big red beauty. We found it while driving to one of our cave diving home rentals in North Florida.
What struck me was how tall it was, and how red it was. I haven't seen this particular style before. It was 2 stories, with only one floor, with a large perimeter porch built around the outside of it.
Outside sits an odd placement for a fireplace. Next to it sits a strange wood beam placement for what appears to be used for tanning hides? The fireplace chimney is long gone, but had a hole in the roof above it that led to a ladder and door in the top of the barn. The inside of the barn was all rafters. I am wondering if this was used to dry/tan hides or hang tobacco or something? There was no evidence at all of an upper floor.
